13th March 2014 - Break in and Fire destroys clubhouse

About 15 officers rushed to Lionmede Bowls Club in Sandford Road, Springfield, shortly before 10pm on Thursday evening to find the hall, kitchen and store-room in flames.

As of about 11pm on Wednesday the fire left the building about 25 per cent damaged, entirely smoke-logged and its roof scorched.

The full set of pictures shown here are of most areas except gents toilet and changing room.

The police are treating the incident as arson and are appealing for witnesses. The Council are fully informed and are keen to help us get the forthcoming season underawy.

The club will be need to consider the process for the cleaning and storage of all Lionmede trophies bunting, chairs, honour boards, pictures, dishwasher and water boiler. the fridge was completely destroyed. All of the spare sets of bowls and all of the green hardware has been totally destroyed. We have also lost the three Marquees which were stored in the loft together with all the fun day games.

The clubhouse has now been surrounded by a solid steel fence and is inaccessible.
