Obituary – Maurice Lauder 1925- 2021

Maurice was a stalwart of the club who served in various roles before becoming President. He always tried hard to fight Lionmede’s corner with the council and other clubs. As a bowler he was often unbeatable and many of us groaned when we saw that he was to be our opponent in a club competition. He was passionate about his bowls and even at the beginning of the season he came to Open Day to see if he could still get up the green.

At club events he was frequently there to support the club bringing along his infamous wine which you drunk at your peril!

Maurice was a devoted husband to Molly who also recently passed away. When you saw the two of them together arriving for bowls they proudly wore their club blazers . Maurice was also fiercely proud of his family and would speak of them frequently.
